Set up your channel to earn money

To check your channel's eligibility and join the YouTube Partner Program:

1. Sign in to your YouTube account.
2. In the top right, select your account icon > Creator Studio. 
3. In the left menu, select Channel > Status and features.
4. Under "Monetization," click Enable.
5. Follow the on-screen steps to accept the YouTube Partner Program Terms.

You can't earn money from your videos until your channel is associated with an AdSense account.

Learn what to do if monetization is disabled for your channel.

After you've joined the YouTube Partner Program and set up your AdSense account, you can turn on ads for eligible videos.

1. Make sure your video meets the video monetization criteria.
2. Review the different YouTube ad formats that are available.
3. Follow the steps to turn ads on for the videos you want to monetize. You can choose to turn on ads for individual videos or multiple videos in bulk.
4. Sign in to your YouTube account.
5. In the top right, select your account icon > Creator Studio. 
6. In the left menu, select Channel > Upload defaults.
7. Check or uncheck the box next to "Monetization."

Note: If you've only monetized one video in the past and haven't selected monetization to be off by default, your default monetization setting is On.
